As you know our school is a Healthy School! We are very proud of our success in achieving the Devon Healthy Schools Award because this shows that we are dedicated to giving our children the very best start with an all-round healthy approach to life.

We have embarked on achieving Devon Healthy Schools Plus. This is an exciting new development as it is enabling us to work with all of the other schools across the Kingsbridge Learning Community. We already have very strong links with the other schools but the aim of this collaboration is to focus on a key health issue in the Kingsbridge area that is impacting on our children and young people.

Following many meetings of all the schools, we are looking at the area of Drug and Alcohol Awareness. We started by completing a baseline survey of the children in our school, to seek information and data to support tackling this specific health issue. As a Learning Community, we have been able to share our information and have created a single action plan with specific interventions to support all of our children and young people.

As a team we are now running a Drug and Alcohol Awareness Week across the whole of the learning community. This will enable children, teachers and parents to develop their understanding, share good practice and give our children the age appropriate knowledge and skills to make positive, informed choices in the future.
