When Malborough with South Huish C of E Primary School turned what was the Old Headteachers house, into their new staff room and offices, the children of Class 2 decided that the outside of this part of the school needed brightening up.

They spent time thinking about what made Malborough School so special and made sketches about life in school.  Their teacher, Mrs Jackie Heath, then set about arranging the funding so that the children could create a large mosaic based on their design which could hang on the wall.

Every child in the school and lots of parents had a hand in the project and under the expert guidance of mosaic artist Michelle McQuinn from the Devon Guild of Craftsman ‘Big Hands Little Hands’ scheme spent three days designing, preparing and producing the mosaic.

Watched by children, staff and parents, the Reverend Kirby unveiled and dedicated the fantastic result in a short ceremony this week.  Mrs Sue Jezard, Headteacher said “The design of the mosaic reflects the feeling of Malborough School really well and the friendship we all share.  The project has captured the interest and imagination of all the children and will be a fantastic addition to our school.  We would like to thank All Saints Church at Malborough and also the Hope Cove Weekend Committee for their generous donations which has enabled us to complete this project.
