Rated as OUTSTANDING in 13 out of 14 aspects in our January 2009 Ofsted inspection. We're in a quiet corner of the Primary School site with our own exclusive building and garden. Last year we completely refurbished our facilities and resources, providing a bright, cheerful, well-equipped space and outdoor all-weather play area. We're proud of our high ratio of adults to children, which ensures individual attention to each child’s needs. We hold termly parents' afternoons to show off the children's activities and discuss each child's development. We take children from the age of two. Scroll down to read our news.

"OUTSTANDING" says Ofsted
We were inspected by Ofsted in January 2009 and received the top rating of 'Outstanding' by Ofsted. Download the three page report to read what we do so well. Thanks to the staff and committee who have all worked so hard for this achievement. Here a a few quotes from the report. "The children are extremely well settled and thoroughly enjoy participating in the wide range of stimulating activities... Behaviour is exemplary at all times... Staff use positive strategies very effectively and children respond extremely well... Children make outstanding progress in their learning and development..."
Christmas Visit
Our special trip to Pennywell Farm was a fabulous day. The children were encouraged to dress up and take part in the magical experience of a live nativity. Following a quick biscuit stop, we all visited Father Christmas. The day finished with some zooming around on the pedal tractors, a boing on the bouncy castle and a packed lunch in a rather chilly barn, thankfully the adults found a hot cup of tea! Thank you to Hope Cove Weekend Committee for donating towards this memorable day.
This Term
This term the children have been learning traditional nursery rhymes and songs, with a particular focus on numbers and shapes. The children have already built Humpty Dumpty’s wall, feasted on boiled eggs and got messy with craft activities based around oval shapes.
Fundraising
Following the success of our sponsored walk last summer, we are now the proud owners of a fantastic wooden kitchen. The children are enjoying exploring the individual appliances, although the ‘dirty clothes’ sometimes end up in the cooker!
We are currently raising money for some balance bikes, which are a fun way of encouraging co-ordination and developing an enthusiasm for cycyling. We will be aided by one of our 'dad's' who will be running an Ultramarathon.
We are planning another fabulous night with music from Filthy Gorgeous - watch this space for details of tickets.
Magical garden
We spent a total of £6,000 last year creating an all-weather magical garden with art shelter, wonderful sensory features and wet play along with waterproofs for every child. The garden was a delight for the children during summer. They grew runner beans, sweat peas, tomatoes and strawberries – they remembered to water them each day and took great delight in the flowers and fruits magically appearing. During the autumn, the children enjoyed collecting leaves in their wheelbarrows and this winter the frost has created magical patterns that both the children and adults have marvelled at.
Parents’ afternoon
We had another successful afternoon. We welcomed many parents who enjoyed sharing their children's work whilst having a chance to discuss their child's progress with staff.
